 General Information 

      The Religious Education Program provides religious formation for children from Preschool through Grade 8. Classes are offered once a week after school from late September through mid-May.

    Class Schedule:

        o   Kindergarten-Grade 8….Monday afternoon, 4:45-6:00 pm

        o   Grades 7 & 8….Monday evening, 7:00-8:15 pm

        o   Preschool (for Ages 3, 4, early 5’s)…. Once a month, on Thursday afternoon (1:30-2:30 pm) and evening (6:30-7:15 pm)

        o   Liturgy of the Word for Children (Ages 4 – First Graders). At the 10:00 am Sunday Mass, September-May (most Sundays)

Registration

     Registration is required for all of the above programs. Click these links for registration forms (after-school Religious Education Program (K-grade 8), GIFT Preschool Program and Liturgy of the Word for Children) and more detailed Schedules.  Forms and schedules may also be obtained in the Parish Office or in the Religious Education Office.     GIFT (Preschool RE) Program

     This program is for ages 3, 4, and early 5’s (=not enrolled in Kindergarten). The sessions are once a month on Thursdays, and parents may choose from an afternoon (1:30-2:30pm) or an evening (6:30-7:15pm) session.

Liturgy of the Word for Children

     Children between who are 4 years through First Grade are welcome to participate in this program which runs throughout the year at the 10:00am Sunday Mass (most Sundays, from late September – mid-May). New this year: parents have been asked to pre-register their children – find the Liturgy of the Word for Children Registration Form on this website, or ask for it in the Parish Office, or in the RE Office.

Sacrament Preparation

     Preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist (grade 2), and preparation for Confirmation (grade 8) take place concurrently with the grade level curriculum in both the after school Religious Education Program and in St. Hugo School. A portion of the sacrament preparation takes place at home and requires the participation of parents and other family members. A service requirement is part of the sacrament preparation for both grades 2 and 8.

     The Sacrament Preparation Meeting Schedule is available through this website and is also available in the Parish Office, or in the RE Office. Attendance at these meetings is a requirement for both parents and children.

     First Eucharist – Saturday, May 7 (11:00am) & Sunday, May 8 (2:00pm), 2011

     Confirmation – Monday, February 16, 2011 7:00 pm Mass (Tentative) 

Sacrament Preparation for Children Attending Catholic Schools Other Than St. Hugo School

     Students who are in grade 2 or grade 8 and attend a Catholic school other than St. Hugo School are still expected to celebrate the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist ( = 2^nd grade), and Confirmation ( = 8^th grade) at St. Hugo, their home parish. We welcome these students and look forward each year to having them join with the Religious Education students and the

St. Hugo School students in the preparation for, and celebration of, these sacraments. We ask that parents do the following:

1. Register your child for the sacrament through the Religious Education Office – we coordinate the Sacrament Preparation Program for the entire parish. 
2.  Plan on attending the meetings WITH YOUR CHILD that relate to either 2^nd or 8^th grade – the Sacrament Preparation Meeting Schedule is available on this website and in the RE Office.

3. Work together with your child at home to complete the sacrament preparation materials we will provide.
4. Bring your child to 1-2 practices in church prior to First Eucharist or Confirmation.
