Purpose of the Commission
The Education Commission is concerned with the life-long learning of the whole
parish: preschool, elementary school, junior high, senior high, young adult,
adult and senior adult age levels, as well as giving special consideration to
the potential of exceptional persons.
Education Commission Organizations
Adult Education:
The Adult Education Committee has for its chief objective, the on-going
formation of the adults of St. Hugo Parish, by means of the formulation of
enrichment programs in a series, or in individual sessions dealing
with varied topics of interest.
St. Hugo's Religious Education Program:
The program provides religious education for children
in St. Hugo Parish Grades K-8. For further information, please contact the

Parish School: St. Hugo of the Hills School is staffed by the IHM sisters, who
are Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Monroe, Michigan and lay
teachers dedicated to the cause of Catholic Education. The parish school,
grades K- 8, was founded in l940 and has a present enrollment of 877
students. As a Catholic school, its 41 faculty members are dedicated to the
communication of Christian values as well as academic excellence. The academic
program consists of religion, English, reading, math, social science, science,
handwriting, spelling, music, and physical education. Besides a strong
basic program, an enrichment program of art, instrumental music, computer
education, French and athletic teams are offered to students. Other electives
are available to Junior High Students. Facilities include a well-equipped
gymnasium, cafeteria, library, band room, art room, science lab, computer, lab,
and counselor's office. Information regarding enrollment procedures,
school policy, etc., may be had by contacting the school office at (248)
642-6131, during school hours.
REGISTRATIONS are taken in the
school office for grades 1-8. Priority is given to children whose parents are
registered and supporting St. Hugo Parish.
Parent-Teacher
Guild: This is an organization functioning to promote
good rapport among the people concerned with the parish school. The PTG
also gives support to various school-oriented activities and projects. Board
meetings are held six times a year and are open to all parents. In addition,
various PTG committees sponsor interim activities projects.
Serra Club: The Serra Club is an organization of Catholic laypersons whose
purposes are:

to foster vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and

to help each member grow in his or her faith.

The club strives to attain these goals through prayer, education, and special
programs aimed at helping those called by God to the ordained and/or vowed
ministry to respond to His call.
The club meets twice each month, on the first and third Tuesday, at the Jesuit Manresa Retreat House on Quarton Road. Each meeting includes Mass, dinner, and a speaker or panel presenting a subject of interest and challenge to Catholics. Membership is open to all Catholic laypersons and guests are welcome to attend meetings. For further information, call Winnie Wong at 855-5706.
Justice and Peace:The Committee is a group of concerned parishioners that meet to explore the realities of violence and injustice in our world and discuss possible Christian responses, individually and collectively, to these realities.
Catholic Caucus,
a non-partisan advocacy group seeking economic justice

Educational Center For Life:
This is a volunteer, non-denominational, tax deductible pro life resource center. Audio-visual material, printed material and a speakers bureau are available upon request.
