The Role of the
Evangelization Committee
The work of
evangelization is the responsibility, and in fact the mission, of every baptized
person. The Evangelization Committee is responsible for planning, organizing,
and advocating specific Parish witness ministries designed to reach others for
Christ. While the committee itself is usually a small group, its goal is to
involve many other members of the Parish in outreach to the active, inactive and
un-churched.
The very mission Jesus
received from the Father was to evangelize the entire world, to bring all
people to the Father. Jesus passed this mission on to His disciples, and
to each of us, through the Popes. This is particularly true of Pope John
Paul II, who has repeatedly issued a clarion call for us to re-evangelize
estranged and marginal Catholics; evangelize those who do not know or
understand Jesus Christ.
All parishioners at
St. Hugo’s are called to evangelize. We have an Evangelization Committee
to give us direction, and establish evangelization norms and strategies
for the parish.
The Essence of Faith
Sharing
 |
Faith sharing is NOT a theological
discussion. Speeches, homilies or dissertations are never
appropriate. (Informational model)
|
 |
Faith sharing is NOT an answer to
anyone's problems nor a place to vent frustrations. (Therapeutic
model)
|
 |
Faith sharing IS my personal experience
of God in my life's journey. (Mystery model)
|
 |
Faith sharing IS
living in the vulnerability of life, sharing its joys, sorrows,
hopes and fears and God's faithfulness in that journey.
|
 |
Faith sharing requires
reverential listening in prayerful silence. My experience is the
content and is not discussible or debatable.
