Leaders of Prayer

Purpose

    The Lay Leaders of Prayer Committee bears the responsibility for one specific area of the Worship Commission's function, namely to recruit persons for their specific ministry, and to lead appropriate liturgical prayers associated with their specific ministry, as approved by the Church.  It is the responsibility of the Committee to see that formation occurs and to ensure that these specific ministries are properly carried out according to the Church's Liturgical Rites and guidelines.

Functions

    1.    To collaborate and implement the objectives of the Worship Commission that impacts the

            Lay Leaders of Prayer.

    2.    To promote understanding and formation of the Church's Rites for their specific area of

            ministry.

    3.    To recruit, provide training and formation, and continuing formation for the Lay Leaders of

            Prayer with the help of the Pastoral Associate.

    4.    To be in touch with the parish at large about these ministries: bringing back to the Leaders of

            Prayer Committee any concerns parishioners may have or in providing parishioners with

            information regarding these ministries.

    5.    To provide a spokesperson that will represent them at the Worship Commission.

Structure

    The Lay Leaders of Prayer Committee will consist of the Pastoral Associate and/or the Worship Commission Chair, and the following representatives:  Adoration 1st Tuesday, Adoration Wednesday Vocations, Care of the Sick Nursing Homes, Care of the Sick Friday Morning, Christian Meditation, Funeral Vigil Ministers, Light of God Prayer Group, Moms in Touch, Perpetual Help Devotions, and the Rosary After Mass Prayer Group.  The Lay Leaders of Prayer Committee will select a spokesperson that will represent them at the Worship Commission Meetings.  The spokesperson/representative should be someone other than a Pastoral Staff person.
