Community Outreach Opportunities
Volunteers touch the lives of others and enrich their own lives through their experiences; they come from all walks of life and sometimes are part of a group of co-workers who desire to contribute a team involvement. The experience always generates a sense of gratitude through compassionate service work. Check this page for news pertaining to outreach and social concerns, and for opportunities to get involved with some of these programs in our community.

“Welcoming the Stranger” Among Us
Hispanic immigrants now living in Oakland County look for the big yellow house on Huron in Pontiac to find the help they need to survive and thrive. Hispanic Outreach, a program of Catholic Social Services of Oakland County, helps families with food, warm-weather clothing, loneliness, culture shock, translation for everything, adjustment to a new “systems,” referrals for doctors, English language and parenting classes, and eventually training for a job with a living wage.

A volunteer group called “Amigos de Hispanic Outreach” helps make it all happen. If you would like to help, please call Susan Masiak (248) 548-4044, or email masiaks@cssoc.org, to find out how you can follow Jesus’ invitation to “welcome the stranger” right here, right now. You will be so very glad you did!
