A.        Period of Evangelization and Precatechumenate

This is a time for inquiry and introduction to Gospel values, an opportunity for the beginnings of faith.

 

Initial Meeting:

An initial meeting will take place with the candidate and the Pastoral Associate (Sr. Barbara Rund, OP), in order to discuss the process of the RCIA.  The candidate is to arrange for an appointment, at his or her convenience (barbara.rund@sthugo.org) or 248-644-5460.

This is the liturgical rite, marking the beginning of the Catechumenate proper, as the candidates express and the Church accepts their intention to respond to God’s call to follow the way of Christ.

D.        Second Step: Election or Enrollment of Names

This is the liturgical rite by which the Church formally ratifies the Catechumens’ readiness for the Sacraments of Initiation and the catechumens, now the elect, express the will to receive these sacraments. At the same time, the Church formally ratifies the Candidates’ readiness for the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist and/or the reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church.
