Service Commission Objectives
To inform and involve each parishioner in
service to one another in the parish and to the larger community of city, state,
nation and world.
To maintain our extended involvement in the community by strengthening our
current community-based projects and to respond to new needs as they arise
through research, development and implementation of appropriate action.
Duties
The seven duties as designated
by the Archdiocesan Guidelines are:
1. Develop an information-action
program based on the Gospel Social Teachings of the Church and promote
involvement in this program.
2. Participate actively in the
Parish Council and cooperate with the other Commissions.
3. Establish liaison with the
Archdiocesan Department of Christian Service through the Vicariate Christian
Service Commission.
4. Establish, supervise and
coordinate the work of the recommended service areas (Parish, Community,
Youth Senior Citizens and Reverence for Life).
5. Identify social issues and human needs in the parish and
community, develop to meet these needs.
6. Develop a budget for approval by the Stewardship Commission.
7. Administer the budget.
