Catechists Needed

We need you to spread God’s Word!

By Mrs. Barbara Yugovich, M.A.,
Master Catechist, and Parish Catechetical Leader

Here at St. Hugo’s, the Ministry of Catechesis is understood as the Church’s “sacred duty and inalienable right” (CT14). Therefore, we are constantly in need of members from our parish family to engage in this great work.  As a catechist, you not only teach and nourish the faith, but also, you help to open the heart of the child/young person to hear God’s Word, to know God’s Word, and to live God’s Word In their daily lives.

Currently, we have 17 amazing Catechists; however, we need more catechists to do this great work at St. Hugo’s. At this moment, we need additional catechists to teach in our Kindergarten, and Grades 1, 3, 5, and 6, in order to meet the needs of our growing program.

Our Monday evening faith formation begins October 7th and meets Monday afternoons from 5:00pm-6:15pm.

We need you to say YES!  You will be given all the support and the “tools” you will need to be an effective catechist! Lesson Plans are also prepared for each grade level catechist.  There will be an orientation held on Saturday, September 14, 2019.

This work is so central to the Church that each year Cetechetical Sunday is celebrated on the third Sunday of September. This year will be on September 15th.

Please contact me to apply as a catechist before the scheduled orientation day, so you will be able to attend.  We hope that you will prayerfully consider serving in this ministry.  (A background check is required as well as completing one evening program,  called Protecting God’s Children at
St. Hugo’s this Fall.)
