Mass From Home

Tips from Fr. Dominic

Spending Sundays when public Masses are cancelled: A Note from Fr. Dominic

  • Spend time with Scripture, the Magnificat, and other spiritual readings to prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist.
  • Pray the Rosary, especially as a family.
  • Make a Spiritual Communion:

My Jesus, I believe that You
are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love You above all things,
and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart.  I embrace You as if You were already
there and unite myself wholly to You.  Never permit me to be separated from You.   Amen.

  • Unite to the suffering of missing Mass to the hundreds of thousands of persecuted Christians who never get to go to Mass.
  • Pray for those who are suffering with the Coronavirus, especially the elderly.

Things to keep in mind:

  • Pray for vocations to the priesthood.
  • In the history of the church it wasn’t common practice to receive communion so frequently.  It’s a blessing of the current age.  For centuries the faithful including priests would go long periods of time preparing themselves to properly receive the Eucharist, especially in Lent.  May this time be so well spent to increase our devotion and appreciation.
