EMERGENCY COLLECTION FOR GAZA
Next weekend (August 23/24), St. Hugo of the Hills will take up a second collection to aid those suffering in Gaza. If you would like your contribution to appear on your annual giving statement, please use the special envelopes available at the entrances to the church.
Archbishop Weisenburger joins with his brother bishops across the United States in urging the faithful to be especially generous in this critical appeal, sponsored by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.
We grieve the terrible sufferings of Christians and other innocent victims of violence in Gaza—families struggling to survive, to protect their children, and to live with dignity in tragic circumstances. Pope Francis continues to call for a ceasefire and for humanitarian aid to enter the territory, lamenting with deep sorrow that “Gaza is starving.”
All funds from this special collection will be remitted
to one of two Catholic relief agencies:
· Catholic Relief Services (CRS) – partnering with local Church entities to provide food, shelter, financial assistance, hygiene supplies, and trauma support.
· Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA) – providing emergency humanitarian relief and urgent medical care for the sick, malnourished, and wounded.
Your generosity is an opportunity to serve Christ Himself in the least of His brothers and sisters.
