Mass Intentions

Online Giving Portal for Intentions

In our Catholic tradition, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the greatest prayer we can offer. One of the most beautiful ways the faithful share in this mystery is by requesting that a Mass be offered for a particular intention—whether for the living, the dead, or for a special need.

Effective immediately, at the direction of the Liturgy Committee, St. Hugo of the Hills will follow the Church’s norms for Mass intentions in a clear and consistent way:

· Most Masses will have a single intention.

· One collective (rotating) weekend Mass will allow up to three intentions to be scheduled together.

· One collective (rotating) weekday Mass will also allow up to three intentions to be scheduled together

· One “Mass for the People” will be offered each weekend and on holy days, so that all parishioners are remembered in prayer.

Please note: Intentions already scheduled will remain unchanged.

Altering them now would cause disruption and confusion, and it is important to honor the commitments already made. This new policy applies only to future requests.

These changes matter because they help us:

· Preserve the dignity and purpose of each Mass intention, ensuring every request is honored in a just and transparent way.

· Strengthen the spiritual bond between the priest and the parish through the pro populo Mass (Mass for the People), so that all parishioners are remembered in the Church’s highest act of worship.

· Keep our focus on the spiritual value of the Mass, avoiding even the appearance of simony.

How to Request a Mass Intention

Mass intentions may be scheduled by calling or visiting the parish office during normal business hours at 248-644-5460.

Our staff will help you confirm an available date and time.

Once your intention has been scheduled, you may provide your stipend by:

· Bringing your donation to the parish office

· Mailing a check to the parish office

· Using our online giving portal (after your request is confirmed) at https://www.osvhub.com/sthugoofthehills/forms/mass-intentions

· Filling out a Mass intention envelope and returning it to the collection basket

By aligning our practice more closely with the Church’s universal norms, we safeguard a tradition that stretches back centuries and draw more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s sacrifice.

Let us continue to pray for one another, and especially for those for whom Masses are offered, that they may receive every grace God desires for them.
