Sacred Music

...God has bestowed upon his people the gift of song. God dwells within each human person, in the place where music takes its source. Indeed, God, the giver of song, is present whenever his people sing his praises...

(Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship, 2007)

Here at St. Hugo’s we are blessed with a wide range of different musical ensembles to aid in our beautiful Liturgies. If you are interested in any of the following areas please feel free to reach out to the Department of Sacred Music.

Liturgical Choir: This choir acts as the primary ensemble for the 10am Masses during the choir season as well as the Holy Days and major feast days. While experience and expertise are not a requirement, some singing experience is advised. All that is needed is just a little free time for practice on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9pm in the choir room. Please contact Mitchell Garcia if you would like to set up an audition.

Schola Cantorum: This choir is our semi-professional group that sings at different points throughout the choir season. A strong musical background and fluency in reading music is required. Please contact Mitchell Garcia if you would like to set up an audition.
